Trill Carter, DL, Minnesota
Carter was a two-year starter at Minnesota who opted to enter the portal in late March. The Georgia native didn’t make a huge contribution on the stat sheet (55 tackles) in 32 games, but the 300-pound tackle made life difficult for opposing offensive lines and played a key role in stopping the run. Carter should be a solid addition for a program looking to boost its depth in the trenches.
Jeffery Clark, DL, Georgia State
After taking a redshirt year in his first season on campus (2019), Clark showed steady progression in his career and capped his time at Georgia State with a solid ’22 campaign (9.5 TFL and 4.5 sacks). In 33 overall appearances, Clark generated 92 stops (19.5 for a loss) and nine sacks. With talented defensive linemen always in short supply in the portal, Clark shouldn’t lack for suitors this offseason.
Josh DeBerry, DB, Boston College
With four seasons of playing time at a high level for Boston College’s defense, DeBerry is a name that could attract Power 5 interest in the portal. According to PFF, DeBerry allowed only six passing touchdowns over 1,000 coverage snaps with the Eagles. The Michigan native also earned second-team All-ACC honors in ’21 after tallying 53 tackles and two picks over 10 games. In 39 games with Boston College, DeBerry recorded 158 stops (14 for a loss), four picks and 19 passes defended.
